Industrial Wastewater Reuse
Multi-tech solutions helping to improve water availability in regions facing water scarcity.
Industrial wastewater treatment with FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR elements
There is increased awareness of how much water is consumed for industrial purposes and the large, unnecessary burden placed on local municipalities and other industries. Government regulations and corporate sustainability goals drive necessary action to reduce the impact of industrial water. Reducing freshwater consumption may not be enough to achieve these goals, and industrial users are turning to an alternative and immediately accessible source of water instead – wastewater.
While readily available, industrial wastewater tends to be one of the more challenging waters to treat due to high chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC), total suspended solids (TSS), and total dissolved solids (TDS).
FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR reverse osmosis elements, coupled with DuPont™ AmberLite™ ion exchange resins and DuPont™ IntegraTec™ ultrafiltration modules and skids, are specifically designed to address the challenges of industrial wastewater treatment. Our products provide reliable and effective wastewater treatment solutions, allowing for less cleaning, more recovery, and less waste.

Solutions for industrial wastewater reuse
Total Suspended Solids Removal with UF Total Dissolved Solids Removal with RO Softening & Dealkalizaton with IER
Removal of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) & colloids in wastewater with IntegraTec™ ultrafiltration
During pretreatment, the sufficient removal of total suspended solids and colloids in wastewater creates quality feedwater for in-depth treatment and reuse processes. This ensures the efficient and stable operation of facilities using reverse osmosis systems.
DuPont™ IntegraTec™ ultrafiltration (UF) modules and skids can be used for pretreatment by removing particulates from soluble compounds and ultimately reducing TSS levels. DuPont offers a wide selection of UF modules, skids, and systems that provide solutions to maintain lowest total cost of ownership while managing reliable and profitable operations:
- Outside-in PVDF pressurized UF modules and skids, providing exceptional reliability, membrane separation, productivity, and efficiency on more than 500 industrial wastewater installations worldwide.
- PVDF submerging UF modules and skids, providing reduced capital and operational costs and minimized floor space for industrial wastewater applications.
- Inside-out PES pressurized UF modules and skids, providing unique, strong multibore fiber structure with T-Rack™ skids to maintain competitive total cost of ownership while managing reliable and profitable operation in industrial wastewater.
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) removal with FilmTec™ Fortilife™ reverse osmosis elements
FilmTec™ Fortilife™ reverse osmosis elements help to remove total dissolved solids from wastewater while reducing water costs, minimizing fouling problems, and helping to move towards zero liquid discharge.
The FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR reverse osmosis (RO) elements offer RO modules expertly designed to produce high-quality permeate water suitable for reuse while reducing the required frequency of cleanings in biological and organic fouling-prone systems. Simultaneously, this helps increase uptime and water productivity while decreasing chemical usage.
- FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR200 elements: Reduce shutdowns and chemical use from cleanings by up to 50% and energy costs by as much as 20% in operations with fouling prone waters.
- FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR100 elements: Reduce shutdowns and chemical use from cleanings by up to 50% and energy costs by as much as 10% in operations with fouling prone waters.
- FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR50 elements: Contaminant resistant and offers long element lifetimes and reliable system performance when treating biological and organic fouling prone waters.
Softening & dealkalization with DuPont™ AmberLite™ ion exchange resins
AmberLite™ ion exchange resins for softening remove cations associated with hardness (such as Ca and Mg) from industrial wastewater to avoid scale formation caused by precipitation of sparingly soluble salts like calcium carbonate. Ion exchange resins (IER) can also remove bicarbonate alkalinity associated with scaling.
- AmberLite™ IRC120 Na: General purpose softening resin for co-flow systems.
- AmberLite™ HPR1100 Na: Softening resin with excellent physical stability and low rinse profile. Compatible with all system technologies.
- AmberLite™ IRC200 Na: Highest physical stability for harsh applications, such as hot process softeners and other systems involving appreciable oxidative potential or high temperatures. For co-flow systems.
- AmberLite™ IRC83 H: High-capacity dealkalization and softening resin with improved operating capacity demonstrated in high-TDS Na-form operation. For co-flow systems.
- AmberLite™ HPR8300 H: High capacity dealkalization and softening resin with demonstrated improved operating capacity over other available WAC resins. Compatible with all system technologies.
- AmberLite™ HPR4100 Cl: The "go-to" Type II SBA resin. Compatible with all system technologies.
