DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®

Sturdy Housewrap Engineered for Energy Efficiency
DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® is the original house wrap, leveraging advanced material science to keep air and water out while allowing water vapor to escape. This contributes to enhanced building durability by protecting homes from damaging wind and rain that can penetrate exterior cladding.

Tyvek® HomeWrap® is uniquely engineered by spinning extremely fine high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fibers that are fused together to form a strong, uniform web. This robust structure creates millions of tiny pores that resist bulk water and air penetration while allowing moisture vapor to pass through.

Additionally, Tyvek® HomeWrap® can reduce home energy bills by controlling air flow and water intrusion, thereby improving insulation performance and HVAC efficiency. It is designed to keep homes cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and dry all year round.

FAQ

What is the Basis Weight of DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®? The basis weight and the value for HomeWrap® is 1.8oz/yd^2. What if the DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® has exceeded its exposure limit, does the building need to be re-wrapped? DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap™, Tyvek® StuccoWrap®, and Tyvek® DrainWrap™ have a UV exposure limit of 120 days. If Tyvek® WRBs are exposed beyond the recommended limit, another layer of Tyvek® WRB can be installed over the existing layer, or the existing layer can be replaced. In either case, the new layer must be integrated with the window and door flashing per the applicable DuPont Installation Guidelines to ensure continuity of the drainage plane. If adding a new layer over the overexposed layer, the 2-layer system will have a lower permeability. Contact your local DuPont Building Envelope Specialist for more information. How much does a 9’ roll of DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap® weigh? 16.875lb For information regarding DuPont™ Tyvek® HomeWrap®, please visit our website.
